Sight, sound and motion or ‘SiSoMo’ is a phrase that was coined by New Zealander Kevin Roberts of Saatchi & Saatchi. ‘SiSoMo’ is king when it comes to making your website a success. Video is the ideal example of ‘SiSoMo’ for an online audience.

But it’s not enough for the video just to be there. It needs to be interesting, engaging and informative. Don’t waste the viewer’s time with something boring.
It also needs to be short, less than two minutes long ideally. The aim is that anyone watching the video learns something.
Here are five kinds of video you could have on your website:
- Introductions to key staff
- An insider’s view of your business
- Product demonstrations e.g. how to assemble and/or use your products
- A video seminar that gives people some useful information
- A video blog about company news or events
If you have something to say that takes longer than two minutes make several short videos rather than one long one.
The video also doesn’t have to have a ‘Lord of The Rings’ budget to connect and engage, but always keep in mind your online target market and what you’re saying and make sure the production values reflect message and market.
